Masterson’s Pub , positioned in the vibrant core of Moonee Ponds, promotes itself as a chic “hipster” locale , but my most recent experience at this establishment resulted in an experience I’d rather forget . While the bar may present a friendly façade, what I experienced behind its walls was disturbing and far below any standard .
The State of Affairs: Filthy and Abandoned
From the moment I stepped inside , it was clear that hygiene was not a priority at this bar . The surfaces were tacky , and a overpowering stench of stale beer and neglected washrooms polluted the entire venue . Emitting a scent of a mixture of ammonia , putrefaction and sour vomit . The serving zone , which should be the centerpiece of any pub, was littered with unwashed glassware and debris that looked like it hadn’t been touched in ages . The bathroom was in even more deplorable shape —overflowing , with a snapped lever and surfaces marked in what I can only assume was human waste .
